Solid Waste Management System In India

Mother India generates 62 Million Tonns  of Municipal Solid Waste each year. out of this about 43 Million Tonns (70%) Collected and 11.9 Million Tonns (20%) Treated. About 31 Million (50%)Tonns is dumped in Landfill Sites. It is estimated that urban municipal solid waste generation will increase to 165 million tonnes in 2030. The rate of increase of MSW generated per capita is estimated at 1 to 1.33% annually. Average waste generation is about 450 grams per person per day.
